Through the efforts of DHCA's volunteers and with your support, 2024 was another successful year. Average weekly lettings were approx 32.5hrs with
footfall at around 18,000 persons over the year.
The time freely given by our volunteers allows hire rates to be set at a level substantially below a true commercial level. No
subsidy from the public purse is received. We do pay only a 'peppercorn rent' to Christchurch Town Council but our true rental is in the
cost of operating, maintaining and improving the facility.
The provision of the promised extended lease to DHCA by Christchurch Town Council is now in its 4th year (44 months so far). However there is substantial recent progress for which we are grateful to Councillors and Officers. The extended lease will allow us to seek funding for further improvements to this much-loved facility, such as improved heating and roof treatment.
The Trustees are keen that the building should continue to have a low environmental impact - for example, refurbishment rather than replacement of the windows
avoided substantial manufacturing emissions of CO2.
Improved insulation has raised improved the Energy Performance Rating from 'E' to 'C'. We will improve this further!
Here are some recent photos showing how lovely the hall now looks. Come and see for yourself!
A short video showing the condition of the hall in 2012, before DHCA took on the lease, can be viewed on our History (Druitt Hall) page.
More video and photos are slowly being added to show exterior and interior conditions from 2013 onward, recording work on the extensive improvements carried out since then.
A more-recent video about a visit to Druitt Gardens (pre-dating work to the windows and cladding) can be found on very website here under Location.
H&S Information for operational and maintenance purposes and for works proposed or in progress is available here.
