At the May 2024 meeting of Trustees it was decided to maintain our hire charges for the-then long-term hirers at 2023 levels for the following quarter, to be reviewed by the Trustees on a quarterly basis. No increase has yet been made.
New hirers are subject to current rates.
It should be commended by the hirers and residents that, through the efforts of our volunteers, that 2023 was another successful year and is being repeated in 2024. With average lettings over a 48 week period at 37.5hrs per week, the estimated footfall The 2023 footfall at the hall was some 18,000 - 20,000 persons. Please be aware that this freely-given time results in our hire rates being substantially below true commercial cost and without subsidiy from the public purse.
Regarding the promised extension of DHCA's lease, the process has now extended over 3 years and 4 months and still continues. The Landlord seems to have altered their position on the content of the proposed extended lease. Now we have in prospect a return to the conditions that have been in place since 2013, with the Landlord's out-sourced 're-write' being discarded. We have returned to the position and document put forward in October 2021! This is contrary to the recent inaccurate report in the local press. On a positive note, with Town Councillors Stuart Perry and Mike Cox assigned to liaise with us, real progress on the lease is being achieved. Agreement and issue of the lease will enable us to move forward on funding further improvements to the facility.
Here are some recent photos showing how lovely the hall now looks. Come and see for yourself!
A short video showing the condition of the hall in 2012, before DHCA took on the lease, can be viewed on our History (Druitt Hall) page.
More video and photos are slowly being added to show exterior and interior conditions from 2013 onward, recording work on the extensive improvements carried out since then.
A more-recent video about a visit to Druitt Gardens (pre-dating work to the windows and cladding) can be found on very website here under Location.
H&S Information for operational and maintenance purposes and for works proposed or in progress is available here.
